The recently opened Villa Cha-Cha is the latest addition to a growing array of accommodation in Banglumpoo, a cosmopolitan corner of Bangkok known for its Khao San Road backpacker area.

The river boat taxis of the Chao Phraya river, the Grand Palace, National Museum, Democracy Monument, the Giant Swing, Khao San Road, and regal Rachadamnoen Road with its art deco architecture, are all between two and 15 minutes’ walk away.

Villa Cha-Cha, which we classify as three-star, offers 79 non-smoking rooms. The majority of options are in the junior king and queen categories. These rooms are decorated in modern Thai style. All have air-con, flat screen TV, complimentary coffee and tea and a minibar (junior king only).

The hotel also has a royal floor with five slightly more expensive rooms including a family room. However, none of the rooms has a bathtub.

Villa Cha-Cha offers a swimming pool and two restaurants, one for breakfast and a larger one for lunch and dinner. Both restaurants offer western and Thai food.

Keeping guests connected, the hotel provides wireless internet (not free), a laundry service, sauna and a 24-hour front desk service.

According to Anne Ujjin, Sales Manager of Khiri Travel, the Villa Cha-Cha is a good new option for budget clients.

“Villa Cha Cha has a great location a few steps away from Khao San Road. It is easy to get to local restaurants, street markets and bars. The hotel is very clean and quiet. The freeform swimming pool is surrounded by Asian sculptures. The food is very good. And right on its doorstep guests can lose themselves among all the international travellers and great shopping bargains that we associate with the Khao San area.”
