Hundreds of people were crushed to death on a bridge to an island on Tonle Sap lake in Phnom Penh late Monday evening local time. The tragedy followed a music concert on the island that had been arranged as part of local water festival celebrations.

The Khiri Travel Group sends its condolences to all the friends and family of those bereaved or injured in the tragedy.

Khiri Cambodia currently has clients in Phnom Penh. Since learning of the tragedy this morning, Khiri Cambodia has checked with hotels, guides and tour leaders in the city. They have reassured us that NO Khiri customers or staff were harmed in the incident. Khiri Cambodia staff informed us that the bridge where the tragedy took place is out of town some ways and is in an area not often frequented by foreign travellers.

Khiri Travel has since been in contact with all of its partner travel agents who currently have customers on vacation in Cambodia with Khiri Cambodia. We have told them that their clients are safe and well. Khiri Cambodia will keep all clients up to date on any arising developments from the incident that may affect travel.

If clients have concerns, they should contact Khiri Travel Cambodia on phone 855 (0)89 816 888 or email. [email protected]

Once again, Khiri Travel extends its condolences to the people of Cambodia at this very sad moment.
