See Halong Bay by Helicopter and Junk
Halong Bay is such a large and wonderful achievement of nature, that perhaps the best way to fully appreciate it, is from the air and from sea level. Khiri Travel Vietnam is therefore offering a helicopter and junk boat tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site that translates as “descending dragon” in Vietnamese.
In the morning, we pick you up and transfer you to Gia Lam airport at Ha Noi. Upon arrival, board a MI-17 helicopter to the edge of Ha Long Bay. During the short flight we have the opportunity to glimpse these imposing karst limestone mountains. The towering crags were created by chemical dissolution by slightly acidic rain from the tropical wet climate over the last 20 million years. There are 14 types of vegetation and 60 kinds of animals endemic to the bay. We can also see the aquaculture farms of the 1,600 or so fishing people who live in four fishing villages in the marine park.
For environmental reasons, helicopters cannot tour the bay – but you get a sense of the scale of the scenery from the edge of the marine park. The helicopter from Ha Noi lands and allows visitors to embark on a private Bai Tho junk to experience Halong Bay on water. Fresh seafood is served is part of a delicious lunch on board. After lunch the junk arrives at Dau Go cave. We continue the boat trip to Dinh Huong, Ga Choi, Dog, and Sail islands and Titop beach. From sea level to the sky, the Halong Bay experience gives you a wonderful insight into one of the geographic wonders of the planet. After the junk ride, the trip ends with a helicopter ride back to Ha Noi.
In 2012, the helicopter trip is available 11 Apr to 9 May; 23 June to 25 July; 8 Sep to 18 Oct; and 2 Dec to 21 Feb 2013.
The full day tour lasts 0900-1700 and includes transfers, entrance fees, English speaking guide, lunch, private Bai Tho junk trip and roundtrip helicopter (MI-17) rides.
