About one and a half hours south of Ngapali by boat lies a traditional village called MaungShwe Lay — a welcoming beach- front spot in the beautiful St. Andrew’s Bay.

The tour starts with a leisurely boat ride from your hotel to the picturesque destination. MaungShwe Lay is a fishing community where life is slow and laid-back — something you’ll feel the moment your toes touch the white sand. We’ll live like the locals, with a stroll around the village and trip to the market, school and library. We continue on foot to a local brick factory and then by oxcart through the village back to the palm-lined beach.

A small boat will take you into the bay for snorkelling where the crystal clear water allows for plenty of coral and colorful fish sightings. Lunch is a feast of fresh seafood at a local house right on the beach.

The trip to MuangShwe Lay is not only a fun day at the beach — it’s a direct support to the local community and its people — a humbling experience. You’ll return to your hotel in Ngapaliby boat around 4 pm, feeling fulfilled, sun-kissed, and utterly relaxed.
