Khiri Travel’s roundup of new and intriguing hotel options from around the region….

1Pullman Hotel Saigon

Hotel Pullman Saigon Centre, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

What’s it like?

The Pullman Saigon Centre is a building-style 5 star hotel in downtown Ho Chi Minh City with 150 rooms. The hotel just opened for the first visitors last month. The atmosphere is modern and contemporary, lots of whites and natural colors. Among the facilities in the hotel are a spa, fitness center, swimming pool, ballroom, café and lounge and a convenient welcome space for groups.

Why do we like it?

We like the hotel especially because of the rooms. They offer views on Ho Chi Minh City that are truly stunning. The design of the rooms is modern and they come with blackout curtains and 24-hour room service. Even an espresso experience is available in the room.

What are alternative options to this hotel?

Guests can have a similar stay to the Pullman Saigon at the Sofitel Plaza, another 5 star luxury option in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. The difference between both hotels is the more colonial, French style feeling that the Sofital has, where the Pullman shows a more contemporary modern style.

1iCheck Inn Asoke

iCheck Inn Asoke, Bangkok, Thailand

Where can we find this hotel?

The hotel lies in a soi (sub-street) from Sukhumvit Road and can be easily reached from the BTS skytrain or MRT underground. The hotel is close to shopping centers like Terminal 21 and Emporium, and the surrounding area has a lot of drinking and dining options that range from more upscale venues like Al Majlis Tea Room to the typical Thai street bars. The Benjasiri Park is also close by for a run in the morning or an afternoon spend with the kids in one of the park’s playgrounds.

Why do we think it’s special?

Quite unique for slightly above budget accommodations is Bangkok is that this hotel has an outdoor swimming pool. It’s situated in a key location on Sukhumvit Soi 31, has funky room decoration and funky amenities and facilities (amon which an all day dining restaurant and free Wi-Fi). The hotel also provides a free tuk tuk service to the nearby Phrom Phong BTS station.

What are alternative options to this hotel?

The iCheck Inn Asoke is part of a local hotel chain with similar properties in Bangkok’s Silom, Nana and Ploenchit areas. Two more iCheck Inn hotels can be found in Sukhumvit Soi 11 and 13.

1Nui Sam Lodge VN

Victoria Nui Sam Lodge, Sam Mountain (Chau Doc), Vietnam

Why do we like it?

This is the latest addition to the Victoria hotels in Cambodia and Vietnam. Close to the Victoria Chau Doc hotel, we like this property a lot. The price is attractive – it’s a 3-star hotel, and it’s surrounded by rice paddy fields.

Where can we find this hotel?

The hotel is located very close to Chau Doc in the Mekong Delta and near the border with Cambodia. It’s built on the hillside of Sam Mountain and offers stunning views over the surrounding valley, reaching as far as the Cambodian border.

What can we do in the surroundings?

The location of this hotel in the Mekong Delta allows for great boat trips on the many waterways. Travelers can visit the Tra Su bird sanctuary, a few of the country’s most revered pagodas, and Khmer, Cham and Vietnamese communities. Last, the hotel is perfect for active travelers, with bicycles available, fitness amenities, and a unique health trail around the property.
