A Day With the Family in Vientiane
The newest of Vientiane’s selection of family-orientated attractions is the Inpeng Waterpark. This huge park has a selection of beer gardens, restaurants, cafes and even a museum on the premises. The highlight of the park, however, is a fun selection of swimming pools, all of them in different sizes, shapes and depths. Some of these pools are dedicated to infants while the biggest pool has a variety of colorful water chutes, definitely a big hit with the younger crowd! Restaurants with delicious Lao food, allowing visitors to enjoy food and drinks while watching over their kids, surround all the pools.
With the growing demand for leisure attractions in Laos, Inpeng will only grow. A hotel and river cruise are planned in the near future.
Inpeng Waterpark is about 20 km outside of Vientiane, close to the Buddha Park. Inspired by a renegade monk who formed his own sect, this park contains a collection of magnificent and eerie concrete images based on Hindu, Buddhist and Brahman iconography. Each statue tells a story or a moral fable. This is a surreal place full of interesting photographic opportunities!
A morning admiring the impressive selection of statues at the Buddha Park, followed by an afternoon at leisure in the waterpark, makes an excellent 1-day tour program, just half an hour from Laos’ capital, Vientiane.
