Over the last few years, the central region of Vietnam has been showing a strong commitment towards sustainability practices. The area has implemented strict policies to foster a clean and sustainable environment, which have been endorsed by all suppliers working in the tourism value chain. This not only benefits the region’s popularity and tourism potential, but also improves the local quality of life and protects the natural environment.

Hoi An - Ancient Town - Vietnam

Hoi An Old Town, a UNESCO listed World Heritage Center, is one of Vietnam’s tourism highlights. In order to preserve its beauty, historical culture and keep a clean and friendly environment, Hoi An implemented the following practices:

  1. Motorbikes are not allowed in the Ancient Town. Travel in the historic district is by walking or bicycle.
  2. The use of plastic bags and bottles has been reduced significantly. It is common to see the hotels using newspaper in place of plastic bags in the trash bins and replacing plastic bottles with glass bottles for complimentary water.
