Nouvo-City-Hotel

After more than two years’ construction Nouvo City Hotel has quietly opened in the Banglumpoo area of Bangkok. The area is perfect for easy access to the Chao Phraya river, the Rattanakosin historical district and the cosmopolitan budget hang out of Khao San Road. The Nouvo is just behind the New World City Hotel.

At the Nouvo the owners are still putting the finishing touches to the rooftop bar and spa, but all 110 rooms on seven floors are now open.

During Khiri Travel’s inspection we were impressed with the attention paid to detail in design, furniture, decoration and service. While the Nouvo’s corridors are decorated with traditional pictures of destinations and attractions in Thailand, all rooms feature modern abstract Thai paintings to great effect. The general room amenities are more than sufficient and the inner window between bed and bathroom is a nice feature. Beds are available as twin, double, and triple (larger room types only). There are also some connecting room possibilities.

The room views over this old part of Bangkok (called Rattanakosin) include the head of Wat Intharawihan’s 32-metre tall standing Buddha image and the elegant Rama VIII Bridge. The rooftop area is an excellent place to relax after trying out all the fitness, swimming and spa activities available at the Nouvo.

For dining, the Sara Restaurant on the ground floor makes excellent Indian curries and award-winning pad Thai fried noodles with shrimp.

Like the New World City Hotel, Nouvo City doesn’t sell alcoholic beverages. However, guests are allowed to bring these in from outside.

Khiri Travel considers Nouvo City Hotel a great addition to the more high-end hotels of Bangkok’s Banglumpoo district, as there aren’t that many there.
