Help Protect Elephants in Kalaw
Khiri Travel is working together with two young tourism professionals originating from Kalaw. They decided to set up a project there that is focused on protecting nature, elephants and the traditions of local people. In this protected forest nature can exist undisturbed. The forest is a protected habitat for animals that could otherwise sadly be hunted. The project includes creating a natural environment for Myanmar elephants and helping the local population to use education and micro finance to emerge from poverty.
We start early morning with a half day trek through the forest. As part of the trip you will help prepare lunch with local hill tribe people in a village. After lunch it is time to help the mahout washing and feeding the elephant. Take a ride on the elephant too. We walk back in the afternoon to the road and continue by pick-up truck back to Kalaw town.
A very good reason to include Kalaw in the itinerary of your clients is that it is not only fun and rewarding to meet the elephants in their natural environment, you are also supporting a good cause.
