Tet (Lunar New Year) is probably the one festival that best reflects Vietnam’s rich, colorful and long history. Traveling around Vietnam at this time of year, in any part of the county, you will have chance to experience the most lively festivals, discover the true spirit of Vietnamese Lunar New Year, learn about local food and ritual life and also see some of the most beautiful landscapes. Apart from these unforgettable experiences, this is the only time you will see Vietnamese people taking their well-deserved break from their twelve months cycle of hard work.

Khiri Travel Vietnam has a special Tet festival tour called “Discover the Mekong Delta”. The tour starts with the drive to My Tho, a peaceful town on the banks of the Mekong river, 75km south of Ho Chi Minh City. My Tho is a very vibrant and colorful place on the Mekong delta where you can explore Thoi Son Islet, VinhTrang pagoda and the daily life of the locals.

Khiri Travel will take you for a stroll through the seasonal flower fair, where you will witness numerous varieties of flowers on display. We continue our visit with a cruise to the Mekong river on a hand-rowed sampan along one of the small canals to observe the daily life of the delta and its people. We stop at a local home that makes a living from floriculture. We take time to enjoy the festive atmosphere of lunar new year by having a traditional lunch with family members and cookbanhtet, a kind of country cake made of sticky rice and green beans.
