Battambang Cultural Tour

October 5, 2012 by | Filed Under: Adventure Travel, Authentic Experiences, Cambodia, News

This Cambodian Day Tour explores the Battambang culture and history. Marvel at colonial buildings as you drive to Kor village – home to Wat Kor (Kor Pagoda). Here you’ll encounter monks practicing their daily chants. If you’re lucky, they’ll bless you with holy water from the traditional Jasmine flower – meant to bring happiness and good health.

Stroll along the Stung Sangker river, lined with traditional Khmer style stilted houses, and on to the North where you’ll see local products being made – rice paper, Khmer noodles, rice wine and bamboo sticky rice.

After a local lunch on the river, you’ll head to a winery where you’ll enjoy a relaxing tour of the vineyard and some lovely wine samples.

When you’ve had your share of ‘grape juice’, it’s time to head to the east of town, where you’ll ride the Bamboo train – a unique contraption originally built by the French to transport good. A must-do!

This full day end with an impressive dinner at the social center and art school of Phare Ponleu Selepak – complete with a traditional dance performance as you dine.
