Bon Om ToukFloat Angkor by Angkor Expeditions

Known as the Water and Moon Festival, this marks the reversing flow of Tonle Sap River and also ushers in the fishing season. The highlight of the event is the boat races, which are held over three days. When night falls, fireworks light the sky and a flotilla of boats sail aloft for good luck.

People from all walks of life gather on the bank of the Tonle Sap for several days and nights. This year, the festival will not be occuring in Phnom Penh, in honour of the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk; it will happen elsewhere as usual and the day will still be a national holiday. A smaller water festival can be seen around Angkor Wat.
