A Burmese Preview on 2013
When to visit Myanmar.
2012 has been a year of growth for tourism in Myanmar – this higher demand reflected in higher prices of hotels – and lower availability. The best advice for 2013 for your clients is to avoid the crowds and travel from March till September. We advise to avoid the months February and November, when it can be really busy and hotels and airlines are normally overbooked.
March, April and May generally are the best months to spend a lot of time in the cooler Shan State (Northern and Southern), visit Bagan for two days (it’s dry and hot; easy to travel around, although you might want to do a nap or spend an hour or two at the pool in the middle of the day), and end off with some time in Ngapali beach, of course include one night at a homestay in Maung Shwe Lay.
June, July, August and September see much cooler weather coming through Myanmar. Yangon and the beach can have quite a lot of rain so don’t spend too much time here. Upcountry Mandalay, Hispaw, Kyaukme, Bagan, Kalaw, Inle Lake generally have short showers. It’s much cooler to travel, very green – Bagan at its best – and not very busy with other travellers. For us personally the perfect time to travel.
