Go with the Flow in Myanmar

A great destination for most might be a challenge for some others.

With the increase of tourists to Myanmar we started seeing differences between visitors. Some were well-prepared – others weren’t, some could perfectly cope with the laid back atmosphere, little technology and enjoyed being without a mobile phone connection, others didn’t.

The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism together with tourism related organisations have published a Dos & Don’ts for Tourists booklet which Khiri Travel Myanmar will distribute amongst its clients. The cartoon-style book has many interesting tips on how to act as a visitor and how to get the best out of your trip.

Our personal advice: whatever happens… go with the flow and enjoy every moment of it. Visiting Myanmar is still an adventure in which things can go different than initially planned, flight times can (and probably will) change, hotels, food, transportation and sights might be different than you expected. Try to enjoy from all that the country has to offer before the country changes – don’t try to change it up to your expectations.

Also in 2013, Myanmar will still be a destination that is greatly appreciated by most, while some still might find that certain facilities and ways things are done are not up to their expectations or international standards.

Sometimes we secretly hope it stays that way, as this is exactly what makes travelling in Myanmar so special…
