Khiri Travel Distributes Action Points for Child Safe Tourism

December 12, 2013 by | Filed Under: News, Our People, Responsible Tourism, Thailand

In collaboration with Project Childhood, initiator of the Child Safe Tourism campaign, Khiri Travel has started distributing flyers to its guests on how to be a child safe traveler. The flyer displays six action points travelers can choose to follow to positively impact children’s lives.

Children from poor families are often found in tourist areas begging or selling flowers and souvenirs. This makes them vulnerable to physical, emotional and sexual abuse. By supporting their parents and communities instead, travelers can keep children off the streets and reduce their vulnerability to abuse.

The small actions provided in the flyer can make a big difference to help protect children from abuse and exploitation. The flyer shows a national phone number travelers can contact if they see a child at risk of abuse. The flyer is initially distributed in Thailand with a Thai phone number and is to be circulated in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos shortly.
