Mandalay Markets and Fine Food
Khiri Travel Myanmar would like to present a full-day culinary tour of Mandalay. There are no temples or pagodas on the menu for a change. Just food and markets.
An early morning wake up is rewarded with the tasty local breakfast Nan Gyi Thoke –the Burmese version of spaghetti made out of thick rice noodles and a chicken curry.
We visit a vegetable market to learn about the many dishes and products that most visitors haven’t seen or eaten before. A stroll around the corner brings us to a lively neighborhood where small house industries show us the making of Mandalay sweets, cakes and noodles.
We continue our way to the countryside and find a farm to see where all the fresh produce comes from.
A homemade Mandalay lunch is served at one of the lesser-known monasteries here. We can choose to make a donation and plant a few Sein Ta Lone mango trees.
We normally return to the hotel around 3 pm. Those who are interested can choose to continue to the fish market, which is just about starting at this time.
