Hoi An Lantern Festival
Travelers to Vietnam’s central region in the middle of the month, should try to make it and spend the evening of the 14th in the historical town. Every 14th day of the month, Hoi An welcomes visitors with its “Lantern Festival”.
An initiative of the community to revive the town’s past, it’s a unique experience and a step back in time.
Electrical lighting is reduced to a minimum; televisions, radios, street and neon lights are turned off, motorized traffic is banned. Imagine what effect this already has. On top of that, the traditional silk lanterns appear in all houses located in the historical center. The warm glow of colorful lanterns together with the scent of incense and reduced background noise create an enchanting atmosphere.
