After a few days of confusion, the Myanmar Travel Agent association yesterday announced that a pre-approved tourist visa on arrival will no longer be issued for new applications. Myanmar government has confirmed this change in visa applications. No clear reasons were given.

For the coming months, Khiri Travel Myanmar suggests travelers to apply for their tourist visa directly with a Myanmar embassy. Those travelers that have already applied for a Visa on Arrival (VOA), technically should be able to get authorisation. Khiri however strongly recommends to double check this with a Khiri Travel Myanmar sales contact. Travelers should make sure to hold the official authorisation letter from Khiri before traveling to Myanmar. Otherwise, travelers are advized to cancel the process for a Khiri official authorisation letter and instead apply for a visa at a Myanmar embassy.

Khiri Travel Myanmar regrets that the VOA is no longer available at the moment and apologizes for any inconvenience caused. Meanwhile we are confident that the future will turn out to come up with an improved visa arrangement system.
