Khlong Bang Luang Artist House
On the westside of Bangkok is Thonburi, not a touristy district at all, but it does have its own attractions, one of them being this artist community just off Charansanitwong Road. It was started a few years ago by Khun Chumphon and can be included in our khlong (canal) tours by rocket boat on request.
The center of this canal side community is Baan Silapin, an old two-story wooden house, built around a 300+ year old chedi. Its courtyard is used for puppetry performances, which can be enjoyed daily at 2 pm.
Possible activities include printing, drawing, mask painting, making sculpture and everything in between.
The Artist House Cafe is great place to relax and get your creative juices flowing.
The old wooden shop houses along the riverside are similar to those found in Amphawa. The surrounding area is similarly attractive, just take a stroll through the narrow alleys.
All in all a very nice place to spend a couple of hours, even for those travelers that are not artistically inclined!
