What’s it like?

This hotel is located at Inle Lake offering a wonderful view of the lake, while at the same time conveniently accessible by land and by water.

Why do we think it is special?

The bungalows are beautifully designed and fit discreetly into the surrounding gardens. The bathtubs with hot water are very nice, as the climate in January and February can get quite cool at night. Also the fruit served in the hotel is grown in their own garden.

What are alternative options to this hotel?

There are several other great hotels around Inle Lake, offering great views. The Novotel Inle is a good alternative to the Villa Inle.

Where can we find this hotel?

This hotel is located in Jowahan, Magelang, on Java in Indonesia at the site of Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple. Guests can enjoy easy bike rides to see sunrise over the temple and Mt. Merapi and Mt Merbabu volcanoes in the distance.

What’s it like?

The hotel is a beautiful little guesthouse tucked away down a small lane surrounded by rice fields and mountains. Friendly villagers can be seen coming and going to work in the fields.

The food is excellent and the owner, Medi, speaks English, Dutch and Belgian. He also sings and plays the guitar. Some people compare his voice to Bryan Adams!

The staff at this lodge is composed of young people from several families in the surrounding villages. The villagers are learning English and French at La Vie Vu Linh School so visitors are welcome to go visit with them so they can practice their language learning.
