Vietnamese Wedding Outfit
Clothing plays a very important role in weddings in Vietnam. After the Nguyen Dynasty, the last royal dynasty of Vietnam, women began to wear elaborate ao dai for their weddings.
An ao dai dress is mostly modeled after the Áo mệnh phụ or the very stylish royal ao dai of Nguyễn Dynasty court ladies. This style has remained popular and still largely defines the centerpiece of modern day Vietnamese wedding attire.
Besides the ao dai, the bride will also likely wear a Khăn đống headdress in either red or pink, while the groom will don a simpler male equivalent of the dress, often in the color blue.
A great place for travelers to have a typical Vietnamese wedding dress hand made is in Hoi An where Khiri Travel Vietnam knows some tailors specialized in making wedding dresses.
