Earning “The Mark” of Quality in Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang is only getting better! Read about a government certification program that elevates safety and hygiene standards in tourism and hospitality.
Luang Prabang has increased its restaurant quality as LANITH (Lao National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality) has introduced its restaurant certification program to promote clean and safe dining experiences.
To receive one of the highly desired “The Mark” awards, hotels and restaurants situated in this UNESCO World Heritage Town must meet international standards of food safety and hygiene. Trained LANITH staff that hold a certificate from the European-based Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) will conduct audits of area restaurants. Only 17 will earn “The Mark” granted for a period of two years before these audited establishments repeat the process to continue to guarantee quality expectations.
LANITH representatives have recognized that the inclusion and involvement of local lead restaurants is key in the approach to increase the overall restaurant quality in Old Town of Luang Prabang.
We are looking forward to further recommendations on the best restaurants in Luang Prabang, especially restaurants tested and certified to earn “The Mark.” For more information about Luang Prabang or tours to other destinations in Laos, please leave your contact information in the form below.
