Responsible Shopping in Cambodia
It is hard to find a better responsible shopping destination in Asia than Cambodia. Filled to the brim with boutiques that offer locally made crafts and souvenirs, Cambodia is truly a (responsible) shopper’s paradise.
Historically Cambodia has always been a regional standout for the arts and in recent years the traditional artisan industry has once again become a thriving source of sustainable jobs. Cambodia has long shunned the mass-market souvenir industry opting for a more local touch. Thankfully, your travelers to Cambodia will have an opportunity to take home handmade souvenirs that directly help and affect the lives of locals.
Visitors are never stuck for options from places such as Friends N’ Stuff, an offshoot of the famous restaurant that trains street children and at risk youth in the hospitality industry. There is also the Golden Silk Farm that produces some of the finest silks in the region for Artisans d’Angkor, the responsible shopping stalwart in Siem Reap. One of our favorite options is Trunkh, located in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. They source unique and interesting trinkets from throughout Cambodia and claim to be Cambodia’s original “concept store.”
For more information about how to add a stop to Artisans d’Angkor, Friends N’ Stuff, the Russian Market or Trunkh to any trip passing through Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, please leave your contact information in the form below.
