Cooking Up the Culinary Delights of Khmer Cuisine
Exploring Khmer cuisine is a journey full of the unexpected that won’t leave you disappointed. Caught between the culinary heavyweights of Vietnam and Thailand, Cambodia is often passed over when it comes to cuisine, but as our unique home cooking experience demonstrates, its rich history and culture are reflected in the food.
To find out more about the art of traditional Khmer cuisine Khiri Travel Cambodia’s home cooking tour takes your clients to meet Ms Rotanak ‘Chef Nak’, a passionate cook, food writer, entrepreneur, mother and advocate of traditional Khmer recipes and ingredients.
Chef Nak begins by guiding your clients through one of Phnom Penh’s best food markets, explaining the names, uses, nutritional qualities and history of ingredients and produce on sale. Together, you will buy a selection of fresh ingredients and then travel to Chef Nak’s beautiful home located on the banks of the Mekong River.
At the house, she will share with you her techniques, flavour combinations, the history and her experience of her culinary art. Your clients will have the opportunity to cook three signature Khmer dishes, along with one Khmer-style cocktail.
Once all the food is prepared and ready, you will sit down in the house’s elegant gardens next to the pool and enjoy the culinary fruits of your labor!
The home cooking tour begins in the morning and your clients will be transferred back to their hotel in the afternoon, with time to spare for other activities.
