A Rewarding Tree Planting Picnic in Luang Prabang

December 13, 2013 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: , , , , ,

Last week, a delegation of  Khiri Travel managers traveled up to Luang Prabang for the Luang Prabang Film Festival (LPFF). During the day – when screenings were limited – we ventured out to the countryside where our tuk-tuk driver, Lath, opened up his garden along the Khan River. It took us a short walk through the forest to arrive at his plot with amazing views over the river and mountains in the background.

Main purpose for this trip was the planting of eight young trees to reduce the carbon footprint of the flights we took getting here. The trees need to shoot root and last for a lifetime of 40 years in order to store enough CO2 for a positive effect. It was an easy and real fun job to plant those trees, enjoying the countryside and fresh Luang Prabang morning.

Afterwards, we were treated on a delicious picnic lunch that Channalay, our head in the Luang Prabang branch office, prepared at her home. It was a rewarding activity for all of us and a great day out.
