April 8, 2015 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: , , ,

Zaw Min Oo “Jack” of Khiri Travel Myanmar Sales & Marketing Department writes about the first aid training he and his colleagues underwent at the Myanmar Red Cross in Yangon and the importance of first aid skills in many different situations.

The Myanmar Red Cross was asked to provide first aid training for the Khiri Travel station guides and internal office staff who took a 2-day course at the Red Cross building on Strand Road in Yangon.

The teacher was very experienced, patient and knowledgeable. He shared his personal and practical experiences as well as some guidelines and treatments from the textbook of First Aid Techniques and let us do the practical test and exams.

It is useful for us to know how to perform first aid and save a life during serious incidents and accidents when they happen. Indeed first aid and CPR are very important life skills to have.

When faced with an emergency situation at work such as heart attack, choking, drowning or electrocution, quick and effective action makes first responders the heroes of the hour. For the accident victim, having someone nearby who is expertly trained to administer basic first aid is not only a desirable requirement for businesses of all kinds and sizes, it also makes good community and common sense. Accidents happen, and having trained staff on beforehand and an office first aid kit means enhanced safety for all.

Our first aid training involved attending a course that lead to certification by the Red Cross. Due to changes in procedures and updates in clinical knowledge and to maintain skills, I believe attendance at regular refresher courses or recertification is necessary.

Khiri Travel Myanmar will organize more first aid training and refresher courses for the staff and guides in the future when Myanmar Red Cross announces other training sessions.
