Beautify Saigon – River Cleanup Event

July 13, 2017 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: ,

Plastic waste in Vietnam’s waterways and along its coastline directly affects Khiri Travel and we feel we have an obligation to make strides in improving the situation here and educating our suppliers, clients and staff.

As well as being a member of Travelife, we are actively seeking opportunities in our local community to help where possible. We are pleased to announce that on August 20, 2017, we will be taking part in the ‘Beautify Saigon’ river cleanup project.

Teaming up with Les Rives, Let’s do it – Ho Chi Minh and a number of other supporting organizations, we will get our hands dirty for a great cause.

Starting early to avoid the heat, we will travel along the Saigon River on one of Les Rives’ speedboats to Thanh Da Island, where we will spend a few hours collecting and sorting waste material that has been washed onto the riverbanks.

Once we have collected an acceptable amount, we will head back to shore where Organik, a sustainable, organic food produce farm and store, will be supplying participants with a healthy choice of BBQ food.

Despite the primary aim of the day being to clean this section of the river, we are also hoping to draw attention to this growing problem in Saigon and other parts of Vietnam. Plastic waste management is an area that we in Vietnam feel very strongly about and hope to be able to contribute to its reduction in the coming years.
