Color and Meaning in Jogja’s Street Art Scene

August 10, 2016 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: , , , ,

Known as the cultural heart of Java, the city of Yogyakarta is also home to a lively student art movement. Street art is everywhere. Not only is it a nice way to add some color to the streets, it is also a clever and important way for artists to express social (dis)content through art. Street art is often hidden in plain sight and unfortunately goes unnoticed by the inattentive eye.

This is another reason to join Khiri Travel Indonesia on an exciting tour with, Aldy Setiaji, one of Jogja’s best known street artists. We’ll hop on a becak and let Aldy show your travelers the different kinds of street art and explain the artist’s message behind their work. Your travelers can also visit some art galleries close to Aldy’s heart to get a peak into the lively art scene of Jogja and the artists involved. Of course will we take a break from the streets and enjoy a local coffee or tea with some local snacks to round up this unique experience. You will never look at the streets of Jogja in the same way again!
