Easy Nature Escape from Bangkok

October 16, 2017 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: , , , , , , , ,

Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park is named after two mountains in the adjoining Thai provinces of Rayong and Chanthaburi, and only a 2-hour drive from Bangkok.

Besides being an easy escape from a crowded urban landscape, this park is famous for forested pathways leading to multi-level waterfalls as well as an area called Khao Wong for limestone caves. Not far from the park headquarters, there is a trail to the scenic Khao Chamao waterfall that drops from pools of cool, clear water with lots of fish. The park’s densely forested mountains are habitat for many kinds of animals such as tigers, elephants and bears.

The national park has bungalow and camping accommodations for visitors. There is a restaurant and visitor center open daily. Park rangers are available to lead soft trekking tours and a rubber tree planting program.

For more information about how to make this easy escape from Bangkok to Khao Chamao-Khao Wang National Park or how to enjoy some hiking or caving on the way to the beaches of Ko Samet or Ko Chang, please contact [email protected].
