Enjoy the Taste of Cambodia at Culinary Charity Party

February 7, 2013 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: , , ,

The Cambodian Cuisine Charity Party will take place at the end of March in Phnom Penh. On 29 and 30 March, the Olympic Stadium – the fulfilment of a unique Khmer architecture style from the 1960s – turns into one big yummy food party. The event is organized by local NGO Pour un Sourire d’ Enfant (For the Smile of a Child) and supported by the Ministry of Tourism. Funds raised go the Smile charity.

Travellers should come along and visit this unique festival that helps provide access to quality education for disadvantaged Khmer children. The event will be a celebration of authentic Cambodian cuisine and culture. The diversity of Khmer culture and gastronomy are certainly worth celebrating.

A variety of food stations will be set up to represent different provinces such as Kampot, Takeo, Battambang and Kratie. Each is a unique chance to learn more about each province and to taste the exotic variety of its provincial food.

Make sure to get a good spot near the stage between 5pm and 8pm, when many cultural performances, including dance, Cambodian martial arts and music take to the stage.

We recommend that you come along and check out this unique event. It will be a great insight into Khmer culture. There will be plenty of souvenirs — and smiles — everywhere.
