Family Oriented Fun Exploring the Wilds of Khao Sok

June 26, 2018 by Khiri Travel |

From abundant wildlife and stunning scenery to thrilling hikes and captivating boat rides, Khao Sok National Park has something for adventure travelers of almost any age, including families with young children.

In fact, Anurak Community Lodge offers some unique family-oriented adventure packages in Khao Sok National Park that can be linked with Khiri Travel tours in other parts of the region – especially to sea-and-sand hotspots like Phuket, Khao Lak, Phang Nga, Koh Yao/Noi, Krabi on the Andaman coast, and – in the Gulf of Thailand – islands like Koh Pha-ngan, Koh Samui and Koh Tao.

Through our 3 days/2 nights and 4 days/3 nights Khao Sok Family or Intrepid Traveler packages, visitors get to experience Khao Sok National Park to its fullest with a variety of activities that take you trekking and hiking into the lush forests, or boating across the vast Cheow Lan Lake to stay in a raft house, or trek into the surrounding karst mountains, dotted with caves and abundant flora and fauna.

Visitors usually arrive in the early afternoon at Anurak Community Lodge, which offers two categories of bungalows and the potential for interconnecting family rooms. Upon check-in, guests will find themselves amidst the lush greenery of the jungle, surrounded by the impressive mountains of Khao Sok National Park, looming large in the background.

In addition to the variety of adventure activities you can pursue at Anurak Lodge, guests can also try the lodge’s one-hour, self-guided nature hike along the ‘Anurak Trail’, or explore the area by bike on a self-guided or guided basis. The biking adventure will take you through local village communities, fruit orchards, and even coffee and rubber plantations, where friendly local farmers and villagers will be only too ready to greet you – even if you don’t speak the language!

In the evening Anurak Lodge has a number of dining options, including its unique Jungle Dinner Experience and the lodge’s Authentic Southern Thai Food Dinner Set that is geared toward savoring the local tastes and flavors of southern Thai cooking – two truly memorable dining experiences to be enjoyed under the clear night skies of Khao Sok.

The following day, visitors can relax on site or visit one of the local Khao Sok Sanctuaries*.  (Khiri Travel is working in conjunction with Travelife to assist our partners to become Travelife Certified).

For those with a sense of adventure Anurak Community Lodge also provides exciting Cheow Lan Lake tours with the potential to stay overnight at one of the selected quality raft houses on the lake. Tours can be arranged as full-day or overnight packages and include nature hikes, cave visits and the opportunity to glimpse some of the timid wildlife. Commonly spotted during morning treks are macaques, gibbons, sambar deer, wild pigs, red ox, otter, monitor lizards, and on lucky occasions, wild elephants.
