Flying Squirrels in Chiang Mai

February 7, 2013 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: , , , ,

Philip and Eric, father and son, went to check out this latest attraction in town.

On a Saturday in January I took my son out for an adventure day with his dad. It wasn’t hard for him to choose an activity as the new zip line adventure Flying Squirrels recently opened its doors.

A minivan came to pick us up very early in the morning. We were all so excited that all the guests started chatting and became friends straight away.

The road took us to through Mae Sa Valley — quickly past the dubious monkey shows, snake shows and crocodile farms that dot this area. Once at the starting point of the adventure, we were fitted with equipment, and received safety instructions before the first dive. A Chinese couple went first and after that Eric and me.

Wow!
That was fantastic! Again please!

It was about 18 months ago that we went on a zip line adventure. This one is totally different from the other ones. Flying Squirrels has all kinds of entertainment and obstacles to overcome filling the experience with extra fun. Some moments were quite difficult for me. Eric on the other hand was literally flying like a squirrel.

It’s strange to ride a bicycle on a cable suspension or by skateboard from one platform to the other. We used horizontal zip lines, abseiling, and all other kinds of ways to move through the sky. The last station didn’t even include a zip line, but was gliding down the longest slide I’d ever been on.

Back to the starting point a delicious and good quality lunch was served, after a great experience like this, it was good to fill those taste buds. And at around 3pm we felt exhilarated, satisfied and complete and were heading back to Chiang Mai.

It was for both my son and me an unforgettable day. Families with thrill-seeking kids: don’t hesitate. JUST GO FOR IT! It’s really a must when in Chiang Mai. It’s a wonderful day filled with trees, nature and excitement.
