Explore Cambodia’s southern jungle and experience a slice of Cambodian countryside life.

Example itinerary for a 4-day trip away from Phnom Penh:

Phnom Penh – Chi Phat – Antong Prang – Preak Ta Veal – Chi Phat – Sihanoukville / Phnom Penh

Day 1 | Phnom Penh – Chi Pat

This morning you will travel from Phnom Penh to Andong Teuk, a small settlement on the Stoeng Prat River. This will take approximately four hours. At Andong Teuk you board a local boat that will take you to Chi Phat. Upon arrival in Chi Phat we check into our homestay and meet our hosts. Walk to the Chhay Chrey rapids. This is an easy 2 kms walk. We have a swim at the waterfall and enjoy the quiet surroundings. After an hour we will be picked up by motorbike taxi and taken on a short trip to the nursery of the Cardamom Reforestation Project. Those who want can leave a small donation and plant a tree.

Day 2 | Chi Phat – Antong Prang

Before sunrise we wake up and board a traditional Cambodian boat. Enjoy the spectacular sunrise on the Stoeng Prat River. Birdlife is prolific. If you’re lucky you will be able to spot hornbills and monkeys. A packed breakfast will be served during this boat trip, a kind of a picnic breakfast on the water.

After an hour or so you will transfer to a rowing boat allowing you to enjoy the nature and wildlife in silent tranquility. From Domnak Khos, a wildlife observation post, we start our trek. We go on a leisurely pace through the forest taking time for pictures and explanations about flora and fauna until we arrive at O’Chonleas Pran. We enjoy lunch and spend the night at a cozy campsite.

Late afternoon we will visit a large pond where wildlife will gather around sunset and sunrise. We will enjoy sunset before walking back to the campsite. By that time dinner will be ready.

Day 3 | Antong Prang – Preak Ta Veal – Chi Phat

Before sunrise we wake up and will walk back to the Preak Ta Veal clearing to watch wildlife. With our flashlights we will make our way through the forest, a fantastic experience. We will enjoy sunrise at Preak Ta Veal. The birdlife is absolutely stunning here. After breakfast it is time to pack up and move on. We follow a forest trail that leads to a village community. Here we have lunch before continue trekking to Chi Phat village. Guests can explore the CBT (community based tourism) village and meet the local village people or have a swim at a waterfall, located just behind the village.

Day 4 | Chi Pat – Sihanoukville or Phnom Penh

From Chi Phat travelers can continue onwards to for example the beaches at Sihanoukville or back to Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh.
