Healthy Remedies in Rattankosin Urban Island

November 7, 2013 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: , , ,

Rattanakosin is the historic urban island of old Bangkok near the Grand Palace. It is an island as it is surrounded by fortressed canals on the south, east and north and by the Chao Phraya River to the west.

On this discovery of Bangkok’s Rattanakosin Island, we start at Lak Muang, Bangkok’s city pillar, a not often frequented place by tourists. The highlights of this morning’s program are the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Pra Kaew), the most revered shrine in the Kingdom. We also visit the first public university of Thailand, teaching students in the fields of religion, science and literature through murals and sculptures at Wat Pho.

In fact, Wat Pho was the first center of higher learning in Thailand. Within the temple there are many tablets inscribed with instructions for practicing Thai massage and a pharmacopeia with over 1000 herbal cures listed for a range of ailments. Best of all, all the necessary herbs and ingredients were planted in and around the temple and are available to all visitors.

For lunch, we move to a riverside restaurant and enjoy healthy food overlooking the busy waterway.

In the afternoon guests can choose from several experiences: a visit to one of Bangkok’s most famous wellness centers TRIA, a holistic screening check-up, or a massage given by blind masseurs.

Enjoy a special Holistic Screening Check-up, including a Live Blood Analysis, Electric Interstitial Scan, Balancing Act, On the Beat, Vitality Pool, Essential Oil Massage, and a Choice of Facial Treatments (Gold or Charcoal).

Or try a traditional Thai massage given by blind masseurs. Due to their lack of sight, blind masseurs are more in tune with your body and generally provide superior treatment. It may seem strange at first, but the massage therapists are very friendly and you soon relax and enjoy the experience.

Or choose a special spa romance treatment , including a Revitalizing Epsom Bath, Aromatic Red Rice Scrub and Wrap, TRIA Signature Massage, and a Choice of Facial Treatments (Gold or Charcoal).
