Hue Street Food Tour By Bicycle

Arguably the best way to explore the culture of a country is through its cuisine. Hue city, the old capital of Vietnam, has a memorable variety of succulent local dishes. When visiting Hue city, the traveler must take the chance to enjoy the local food, the street food of Hue and to discover its culinary culture.

Khiri Travel Vietnam offers a flavorsome food tour that gives insights in to the food available around town – and in Vietnam as a whole.

In the early morning we start with a cyclo ride that crosses the historic bridge Trang Tien. The road takes us to the colorful market Dong Ba where we see many of the fresh ingredients used in preparing the local Hue food. Displayed in the many stalls are, for example, different types of rice, and vegetables like tapioca and pinnate leaves, and fresh meat. We explore the market at a slow pace. Afterwards we leave the stalls behind and continue along busy streets to explore daily life. We take pictures around the royal palace and other beautiful Hue sites. We talk to the locals and listen to their stories.

During the tour, we sample many locally-acclaimed street restaurants to enjoy Hue’s wonderful street food, such as:

Banh Khoai – Hue pancake,

Bun Bo Hue – Hue beef vermicelli soup

Banh Loc – Filtered tapioca dumplings

Banh Beo – Steamed rice discs topped with shrimp

Banh Uot – Hue wet rice paper

Bun Thit Nuong – Grilled pork vermicelli

Banh La Gai – Pinnate leaf cake

Cha – Meat pie

Me Xung – Sesame candy

Ca Phe Sua – Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk.
