Khiri Travel’s timely and strategic expansion continues. We have appointed Andre van der Marck as General Manager Thailand and Mark Remijan as Chief Financial Officer and Partner for the Khiri Travel Group, effective immediately.

Andre, a Dutch national, was previously a sales director at Compass Hospitality in Bangkok and held senior executive positions in the travel industry in the region at Transorient Asia, Indochina Services, Kuoni, and Chaweng Regent Beach Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand. His specialisms are account management, contract negotiations, contract management, budgeting, product marketing and marcoms. Apart from Dutch, van der Marck speaks English and German fluently and is proficient in Thai and French.

Mark, a US national, has co-founded more than a dozen companies in the region. He has extensive experience in business planning, strategy, finance, fundraising, senior management, and project and organization development. He previously served as Director of Finance of Bed Management Company and played a key role in the success of Shinta Mani Hotel, Hôtel de la Paix and the Bed Supperclub group of companies.

In 2009 Mark negotiated a strategic joint venture with Nadathur Group, a co-founder of Infosys—a US$ 30 billion NASDAQ-listed company—which resulted in the formation of Ativa Hospitality, where he served as CFO until March 2012. He also helped create SilverNeedle Hospitality in 2011.

Mark received an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School and has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.  He is proficient in Khmer, Vietnamese, and Thai and has been a business pioneer in Southeast Asia for 20 years. He was also VP for HOPE worldwide, an NGO that developed a free health care and training hospital in Cambodia, a children’s village in the Philippines, a clinic in Vietnam and a vocational training centre in Thailand.

“Andre and Mark bring to Khiri the highest levels of business acumen, innovation, and strategic thinking,” said Khiri CEO and co-founder, Willem Niemeijer. “Their mindset fits perfectly with the socially responsible entrepreneurs’ agenda that drives Khiri Travel Group’s vision for the future of travel and tourism in the region.”
