Khiri Travel Laos: A Year of Positive Change

December 12, 2018 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under:

This year has been quite an eventful one for us at Khiri Travel Laos, with a number of changes taking place. It began with welcoming our new general manager, Stefan Scheerer – previously with Khiri Travel Myanmar – who took the reins and reorganized some of our internal business; focusing on active team involvement, communications and sustainable business development.

The whole team also enjoyed a fantastic trip to northern Laos that included some of Khiri Travel Laos’ most stunning destinations and products, such as a cruise down the Mekong River, a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Luang Prabang and traveling to rural Muang La village in Oudomxai Province – a mountainous region of pristine natural beauty on the Nam Phak River.

As noted in Khiri Travel’s Core Values, we treat our team as family, our clients and suppliers as friends, and continually strive to foster long-lasting relationships. To this end, our team also underwent additional training this year, including English language classes at our head office in Vientiane to improve their communications skills.

Furthermore, all our staff completed the Travelife exam – a culmination of several training sessions and the next step toward receiving our first Travelife certification at Khiri Travel Laos! We also recently welcomed our new assistant general manager, Connor Bedard, who will be the driving force behind our sales team – ensuring that we reach new heights in agent communication.

Sustainable business development has been another key aspect of our work in 2018. Our move to completely replace plastic bottles with glass water bottles for all transfers in Vientiane and Luang Prabang has been an important first step to reducing the number of single-use plastic water bottles in our daily operations.

With a focus on the involvement and participation of local communities in which we operate, Khiri Travel Laos has also developed several new signature experiences that showcase the daily lives and culture of local people and their families. Additional income that families can earn from these tours has a positive impact on their lives and is a great example of how tourism can support small businesses and communities in a sustainable way.

Khiri Travel Laos will continue to develop new innovative and inspiring tour experiences that benefit local communities and enable foreign visitors to experience and see the real ‘face’ of Laos.

We look forward to an exciting and challenging 2019 with you all!
