The inaugural event of the World Travel Market (WTM) Africa commences at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3. This international travel trade exhibition will bring together a broad spectrum of travel professionals and industry brands that will join airlines, operators, and agents as participants in WTM Africa. Event Manager, Polly Magraw said: “ Tourism is one of the fastest growing economic sectors on the African continent. Many international travel brands recognize the potential the region has and are keen to show their support for the event.”

Jack Bartholomew, General Manager, Cambodia and Andre van der Marck, General Manager, Thailand will represent Khiri Travel on the exhibition floor stand L10.

A key component of the education sessions taking place during the trade show will be the issue of responsible tourism. Three-panel discussions will provoke insightful debate on this important topic such as how principles of responsible tourism can be used for business advantage by highlighting good practice case studies already in place in Africa. Environmental responsibility will be the focus of the second panel and the third is on social responsibility, particularly and importantly, child protection. There is increasing awareness among travel professionals about child labor, trafficking and sexual exploitation of children. Panel members will include, amongst others, Andre van der Marck of Khiri Travel Thailand, to share thought-provoking case studies on the issue of child protection within the travel and tourism industry.
