Travel Route Yangon in 4 days
This four-day stay in Yangon was part of a longer international tour that the students undertook visiting Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Thailand. They learned more about doing business in these countries and increased their general knowledge of these countries. The cultural differences and variety of environment was a great way for the students to broaden their horizon.
Khiri Travel Myanmar had about four months in which they corresponded regularly with the teachers in New Zealand about the program, meals and visits. In these four months back office and operational preparations took place as well.
It was the first time for this institution to visit Myanmar and both students and teachers were very excited to discover this country. They had a fun ride in the local, so called circular train in Yangon. Due to delays and traffic though, they were late for their appointment at International School Myanmar. Our guide took some liberty and creativity to arrange last minute local taxis for the whole group to drive all together to the school. A real fun experience that wasn’t planned in advance.
Several projects were visited by the students:
International School Myanmar
The students visited this international school to see the CSR program of the school in practice.
Variety of local businesses
Students and lecturers were divided in smaller groups and had multiple Q&A sessions with various Myanmar business leaders. This was done in a lecture format.
Summary of the travel itinerary:
Day 1 | Arrival in Yangon
Students were welcomed at the airport from where they had a transfer to their hotel. They visited the Shwedagon Pagoda, Khiri style.
Day 2 | Yangon
In the morning students met four speakers who were all New Zealanders living in Myanmar. The afternoon took them to a local supermarket where students attended a presentation by the supermarket manager.
Day 3 | Yangon
An interesting train ride brought the students to the International School Myanmar where they met fellow students and learned about the sustainability practices of the school. At the end of the morning, they returned to downtown Yangon and enjoyed a free afternoon. To mark the end of their trip, the students were treated to a dinner show in the evening.
Day 4 | Yangon – departure
Before the group was transferred to the airport, they visited our Khiri Travel Myanmar office near the Strand Hotel. They met our general manager and had a Q&A session with him on business and politics in Myanmar.
