Kiridara’s Hotel Manager: “Green Time is the Cool Time”
Every month, we put the Spotlight On one of the key players that make it happen for your privileged clients.
This month we spoke with Francis Fernandes, Hotel Manager Kiridara, Luang Prabang, saying the green season is a great time to travel in Laos and the Mekong Region
What’s your connection to Khiri Travel?
I am Francis Fernandes, Hotel Manager at Kiridara, a 24-room boutique hotel in Luang Prabang. We are business partners of Khiri Travel. We work very closely with each other for the benefit of our guests. I believe we both have the same passion for discovery and delivering guest service.
The next few months mark the green season in the Mekong region. Is it a good time to travel?
I feel that May to October are often the best time to travel. We call it the green season. There are a lot of promotions during this time – some remarkable value offers. Also it’s quiet. Local people have that little bit more time for guests. And the freshness and the greenery of the landscape is amazing. Waterfalls and nature are at their best. It’s cooler and fresher outside.
What are the advantages of traveling in green season?
Peace. Freedom. Nice prices. No hassle. Mother Nature is alive.
What about the rain?
It usually just rains in short bursts. For people with a bit of adventure in their hearts they can still travel and enjoy the Mekong region. Hotels, restaurants and attractions will be very happy to see you.
Which destinations are ideal to visit in the green season?
The whole Mekong region, but especially iconic sites such as Angkor Wat at Siem Reap, the Grand Palace in Bangkok, Luang Prabang heritage city, Bagan, and the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon.
Where are you personally planning to travel?
I have experienced Laos for two years. It has been wonderful. My next trip is Thailand and Vietnam. I also aim to travel to Cambodia and Myanmar very soon.
