Luxury Mekong Sunset Cruises in Laos

March 8, 2018 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: , ,

If you’re visiting the royal city of Luang Prabang for the first time, you can’t help but notice that the Mekong River is an integral part of the city and its stunning beauty.

In fact there are all sorts of boat rides and experiences involving the river – and what better way to appreciate its charm and beauty than a super-relaxed luxury sunset cruise gliding into the sunset?

Run by the 5-star Avani Luang Prabang as one of its River Experiences, the luxury Mekong Sunset Cruise started six months ago and is a highly recommended way to experience the beauty of the ancient forested hills which lie along the banks of the Mekong.

The ‘Play Boat’ offers a two-hour luxury trip on the Mekong River and can be booked either join-in or privately.

The views on both sides of the river are stunning and of course especially so during the sunset, but for those clients who also need to be entertained there is a huge flat-screen TV and air-conditioned room in which to relax.

The cruise starts with guests being welcomed by the staff with a cold towel and refreshments. After a short safety briefing the cruise starts. Gourmet canapés and soft drinks are on offer, while the bar is open for your orders.

After about one-hour the sun is about to set and the boat turns around to return to Luang Prabang, still offering fantastic views.

The Mekong Sunset Cruise is suitable both high-end FITs and small groups. Note that transfers from and to the hotel are included in the price.

Later this year Avani will run two new exclusive high-end two-day cruises with a two-cabin and 13-cabin boat from Luang Prabang to Houay Xai and back. These boats will stop for the overnight at Pak Beng, but guests will sleep on board.
