Every month we put the spotlight on one of the key players who make it happen for your privileged clients. This month, get to know Artana, travel guide for Indonesia.Spotlight On - thing to do with tour guide, Indonesia

Who is Artana?

I am 46 years old and I live in Mataram, Lombok, with my family. I am bilingual in English and Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia). I like to visit Bali and Java but I still prefer the food in Lombok such as my favorite: taliwang, grilled chicken with a spicy sauce of garlic, chili and shrimp paste.

What is your job with Khiri Travel?

I am a tour guide and tour leader for group travel in Indonesia. I like to entertain people and talk to people with different character and background than my own. I came to Khiri Travel when they started in Indonesia. I work mostly with European clients who are friendly, polite and have high expectations.

How do you normally work?

I like to make sure to give clients a thorough briefing with the most up to date information. We try to anticipate and exceed our customer’s expectations with good communication and excellent service. For VIP guests, or honeymooners, we greet them at the airport with a garland of flowers for example.

How do you handle guiding tours for families with children?

I don’t prepare differently for these tours but try to be a bit more entertaining with the children such as telling them funny stories and giving them time to play on the beach. And we try to remind them about dangerous things.
