Cardamom Tented Camp, Koh Kong, Cambodia

With the tagline, ‘Your Stay Keeps the Forest Standing,’ Cardamom Tented Camp offers eco-friendly packages to adventure enthusiasts keen to be a part of real conservation work. Well off the beaten track, the eco-camp is deep inside Botom Sakor National park, an area that is home to pristine lowland and coastal habitats linking wildlife corridors to the Cardamom Mountains. Guests who visit the eco-camp can enjoy their stay in relative luxury on the banks of the beautiful Preak Tachan River, knowing they are helping to preserve the park’s pristine environment and wildlife.

The eco-camp is equipped with nine comfortable safari-style tents that minimize the human footprint on nature and promote sustainable tourism. Each of the nine tents provides visitors with a fully-enclosed and mosquito-protected canvas tent. In-room amenities are the standard of a 3-star hotel, including twin or queen-size double beds, sufficient fans, bamboo and rattan furniture, bathroom facilities with hot water, rain showers and spacious patios with sun chairs.

Guests can book several different packages that enable them to take part in a number of exciting camp activities that are geared towards assisting in the park’s nature conservation and which also involve and benefit the local communities in the area. Multiple activities are scheduled on a daily basis and are included in the overall package price.

Other accommodation of a similar standard and concept in Koh Kong Province includes the 4 Rivers Floating Lodge and Rainbow Lodge.

Although Loikaw is not the most visited place in Myanmar, this little town is gaining popularity as a destination for community-based tourism, and the family-owned boutique lodge situated on the edge of Loikaw Lake, is an unexpected gem in this remote part of Myanmar.

As you enter the lodge, it’s as if you leave the modern world behind. Described as a new approach to affordable luxury, Azerai is certainly high on the luxury standards. Teardrop Hotels, Sri Lanka

Teardrop Hotels recently opened three new Sri Lankan properties in Central Province and Uva Province that follow the hotel chain’s three founding principles: Genuine Sri Lankan hospitality, fabulous Sri Lankan and Asian fusion cuisine, and experiences that put guests face to face with the colourful local communities in which they are situated.

Camellia Hills, Dickoya

Live the life of a modern-day tea planter at Camellia Hills, a luxurious five-bedroom boutique bungalow hotel near Dickoya, in Sri Lanka’s crisp hill country. From its verdant valley-side perch, views of the mirror-still Castlereagh Reservoir and surrounding tea-wrapped hills are spectacular. Drink in the panoramas while relaxing on large sofas warmed by an open fire, dining in the semi open air or swimming lengths of the cool garden pool.

Goatfell, Nuwara Eliya

Goatfell is perched on a working tea estate in Kandapola village, just 25 minutes from Nuwara Eliya, in the heart of Sri Lanka’s hill country. This former estate manager’s bungalow will have four en suite bedrooms, a living and dining room as well as a swimming pool. With a focus on gourmet food and a butler service, guests will immediately feel at home, while being able to enjoy the fresh air and stunning views from the bungalow’s beautifully manicured gardens.

Nine Skies, Ella

Just a few minutes along the tea-lined estate roads from Demodera Railway Station near Ella, stands Nine Skies, a majestic former tea planter’s bungalow turned five-bedroom luxury hotel. Set within several acres of private gardens are the hotel’s croquet lawn, garden pool and sun deck, with wonderful views across the valley to the tea factory and famous Demodera loop. The bungalow’s name is a nod to the nine-arch viaduct, through which it is possible to see ‘nine skies’ when looking through the arches.
