Practice Gentle Strokes of Calligraphy in Saigon

January 7, 2014 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: , ,

Calligraphy

In a residential neighborhood in downtown Saigon, Khiri Travel will show a small local pagoda. It’s different from most of the pagodas travelers to Southeast Asia will have seen before. There are only female monks residing there.

Practice Gentle Strokes of Calligraphy

The monks are very hospitable and happy to show us around the temple and its grounds. Another special aspect of this temple is its commitment to Vietnamese and Chinese calligraphy. In an intimate room, guests can practice the basic technics of ornate Mandarin and Vietnamese handwriting. This is a unique opportunity to discover the differences between the two scripts and help preserve the ancient art of calligraphy.
