The Spotlight On: Successful Sales Executive, Mr. Somphet

December 2, 2014 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: ,

Every month, we put the spotlight on one of the key players who make it happen for your privileged clients. This month, get to know Somphet Successful, Sales Executive for Khiri Travel Laos, Vientiane office.

Spotlight On - Somphet - Laos

Please tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am from the Vang Vieng District of Vientiane Province. I started working for Khiri Travel Laos 10 months ago as a Sales Executive. My responsibility is to make sure bookings are confirmed and all the arrangements are done in a timely manner. In my free time I like listening to music. I also like to go to the gym, ride bicycle and run to stay fit.

What is special about Laos?

Laos is a beautiful country where visitors can get close to nature. Most of the Lao people prefer natural surroundings to technology. There are so many things to see and do in nature such as caving, trekking in the forest, waterfalls and enjoying our wonderful weather. We are happy to share our ways of life, traditions and different tribal festivals with tourists. However, the agents need to make their clients aware of the need to respect our love of nature, for example, to take care of their trash and use recycling as much as possible.

What kind of food do you like and do you have a favorite restaurant in Vientiane?

My favorite dish is steamed fish with lemon and tam mak houng, or papaya salad. I would like to recommend the Khop Chai Deu Restaurant in the central area of Vientiane. Before joining Khiri Travel Laos, I worked at this restaurant. It has a very good reputation, their service is very professional, the staff is helpful and of course the food is very delicious.

What is the best Lao festival for you?

Boun Kler Festival is one of the most interesting tribal festivals of the Kamu ethnic tribe, which is my tradition. Boun means festival and Kler is the Kamu name. It is held in January and February all over the country in Laos. Boun Kler is special for Kamu people because we celebrate every year after we finish farming and working in the fields. All the families have an opportunity to get together and be happy about the end of all the hard work.
