Team Laos on the Road

June 11, 2019 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: ,

This year the Khiri Travel Laos team packed their bags for a staff trip to Southern Laos. As destination experts we need to know our product, so we combined a FAM Trip with some fun!

From Pakse, we traveled down south to Don Khone Island, where we checked into the charming French colonial hotel, Sala Done Khone. The next day, we began exploring the area on mountain bikes, riding through the rice fields to see the impressive Li Phi Falls.

We then boarded small boats and cruised to a part of the Mekong known for the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins, where we were lucky enough to get a sighting of them! It was then only a short boat ride across the river to neighboring Cambodia, where we stopped off for a cold beer, before heading back to Don Khone.

In the evening it was time for everyone to experience our new signature, ‘Fishing, Fairytales, and BBQ’ experience. It turned out to be a really great way to spend the late afternoon – enjoying the company of the local fishermen and learning the local way to catch fish. We then headed to a quiet little island in the middle of the river, where we made a campfire, grilled our catch and enjoyed a few Beerlaos as we watched the setting sun.

The next morning, we headed to the Bolaven Plateau, where we boarded a couple of vintage army jeeps for a fantastic tour to see the plateau’s famed coffee plantations and waterfalls.

On the last day, we woke up at the Falls View Resort Tad E-Tu and enjoyed a cool swim in the nearby E-Tu Waterfall before heading back home – a truly memorable way to end our trip!
