Vietnam’s South the Perfect Christmas Getaway

June 17, 2019 by Khiri Travel | Filed Under: , , , ,

Vietnam may well be in the tropics, but with its landmass covering such a vast distance, temperatures and weather patterns can vary considerably throughout the year, reports Nick Wade, General Manager of Khiri Travel Vietnam.

In January last year, I traveled from Saigon to Hanoi. When I left Saigon it was 30°C and I was in shorts, t-shirt and flip flops. When I landed in Hanoi and heard the screams as people disembarked from the plane, I thought we were under attack! Thankfully, this was not the case, but as I walked out into the howling wind and temperatures of 5°C, I knew exactly what all the shrieking was about!

Although not always that cold, we certainly need our clients to be ready and aware of the cooler weather in the north. As such, why not escape the cold and head south to take advantage of the warmer and sunnier weather at this time of year?

If you’re planning a winter vacation in Vietnam, then Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Saigon, the Mekong or Phu Quoc are all great options for a Christmas or New Year’s break. In Nha Trang, Mui Ne or Phu Quoc, you could even have an Aussie-style Christmas with a barbeque on the beach! All three locations have spectacular hotel options, great beaches, and fresh seafood – the perfect mix to unwind and relax for a few days.

The rural Mekong region is also a great choice to explore around Christmas. The weather is good and with Khiri, we have some adventurous hands-on tours that give you the opportunity to explore the area by boat, bike or on foot – a great way to meet locals and experience their unique way of life.

Saigon, the heartbeat of southern Vietnam, is a true mix of that exotic and chaotic Southeast Asian madness, with a dollop of western influence. It’s a city to get lost in and even better when you get ‘lost’ with one of Khiri Travel’s guides! A gateway to the Mekong region, with amazing food, lots of history, and the Cu Chi tunnels only a few hours away, Saigon is a wonderful place to spend a few days, before heading on to other southern destinations.
