Chatrium Hotel Yangon Myanmar Poolside Relaxing

Day 1: Saturday

Spiritual Morning in Yangon

Today you will have the chance to experience the spiritual facets of Yangon. You will be picked- up at your home in Yangon and we will start the morning with a quiet mind by only letting our souls speak- train the art of meditation. We will continue by visiting a traditional Myanmar medicine shop to learn more about ancient recipes and medicines made with natural ingredients. We will pass the Mahamuni statue, where gold leaves are applied and continue to meet with a fortune teller. By analysing your date and hour of birth, name and other personal information, the fortune teller will create an individual future scenario for you, which is up to you to accord credibility.

The vegetarian lunch is served in a very special location, the last Jain temple in Myanmar. The newly restored temple is not only a hidden gem, but has a highly interesting story, which will be explained to you by a member of the last families practicing Jainism in Yangon, which is a religion teaching to live in harmlessness and renunciation.

After lunch, continue to the Chatrium Hotel, as the afternoon is free and easy to enjoy the beautiful pool.

Yangon Nat Walk with Htwe Oo Puppet show

In the evening, discover Yangon in its most mysterious yet superstitious way, your guide will take you on a walking tour to learn about the Nat spirits that owe their origins to Burmese mythology. The belief is that this form of animistic worship was created from karmic martyrdom, and even today the Nat belief still exists alongside Theravada Buddhism. Your will start your tour, by experiencing their story told the traditional way, by puppets! The art of Puppetry Yoke thé literally “miniatures” is the Burmese name for marionette puppetry and has been around since the 17th century. During the show, notice how both male and female puppets are manipulated according to their master’s gender, at the end of the performance, you can also be a puppet master and have a go yourself! After the show, enjoy a dinner at LinkAge Restaurant run by a NGO volunteer group named Forever Humanitarian. This restaurant helps disadvantaged street kids by providing them with training in Food & Beverage education and supports them with lodging, food and clothing. Continue your mysterious tour by walking along colonial buildings to the Shwe Phone Pwint Pagoda, where diverse Nat statues are displayed and your guide will explain you their meanings and characteristics. Overnight at the Chatrium Hotel
