NTCC Promotion: Escape to Hanoi
Khiri Travel Vietnam put together a special offer for NTCC-members with a 4-day 3-night off-the-beaten path discovery of the country’s northern capital Hanoi. Private tours let you enter Old Quarter residences, give unique access to UNESCO protected woodblock carvings in a charming pagoda, and take you to prepare your own traditional cake. We venture out for a bicycle tour in the countryside and stay in attractive small boutique accommodation.
Day 1 | Hanoi | Meals: None
Arrive at Hanoi’s Noi Bai airport where your tour guide will welcome you in the arrivals area. We transfer you to your hotel for check in.
In the afternoon we visit the Old Quarter of Hanoi. You will meet a local family and discover their way of life and the traditions of northern Vietnam. We walk around town to discover French architectural details as well as Chinese symbols. We also visit a typical communal house restored by UNESCO. Have the opportunity to test some freshly made local specialties like nem or ban cuon (a sort of spring roll). You might try to roll your own spring roll by yourself!
In the late afternoon enjoy the famous Vietnamese traditional water puppet show.
Day 2 | Hanoi | Meals: B
Your guide will pick you up at the hotel from where we drive to Dau pagoda. This is one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam where devotees worship Buddha and at the same time female genies like Lady Dau or “Black Lady”. Her name refers to the unique dark color of the wood from which the statue was made.
The pagoda used to be in the center of the old citadel of Luy Lau, a former holy Buddhist site and an important intellectual center during the period of Chinese domination.
We continue to But Thap pagoda, which was founded in 1037 and is one of the most beautiful pagodas in the region. You will find a mix of Buddha and different genie statues. Also you will have the opportunity to see a prayer wheel dated from 13th century….a unique piece in Southeast Asia. In the afternoon, we discover a Zen Buddhist temple. It houses woodblock carved with the ancient language of Chu-Nom. One of the residing monks will open the pagoda library and show us some unique pieces. Today, these woodblocks are classified by UNESCO as cultural heritage in Vietnam. On the way back to Hanoi we make a stop at Dong Ky village and a local market to discover regional specialties. We arrive at our hotel in Hanoi in the afternoon.
Day 3 | Hanoi | Meals: B
Free time at leisure to discover the city on your own. Khiri has plenty of optional tours on offer to discover Hanoi and it’s surroundings and we’re happy to advice you for today’s program.
Day 4 | Hanoi | Meals: B

A traditional village shows up ahead of us where we discover an old banyan tree and a communal house dated from 15th century.
