New Guidelines for Elephant Interactions
Khiri Travel’s commitment to Elephant Welfare is based on scientific data as well as responsible and sustainable practices. For the 1st time ever there are now strict criteria and guidelines being implemented and Khiri will only work and support Elephant camps that have agreed to be audited under these new standards. We will not work with camps who have refused to be audited and have not committed to taking the initial steps towards change and transparency, for the benefit of both the Elephants and the Mahouts.
ELEPHANT CAMP ANIMAL WELFARE AND SUSTAINABILITY STANDARD

The training took place on 30 August -1 September in Chiang Mai, Thailand where 35 participants from 5 different Asian countries participated. The training was based on a standard of 166 criteria divided over 7 themes and 24 subthemes. The initiative is supported by leading regional TOs including EXO Travel, Khiri Travel, Buffalo, Easia, Club Med, Destination Asia, Asia DMC, Destination Services and Go Vacation.
